Desde España, donde llegó para jugar una serie de amistosos con Boca, el enganche habló de la actualidad de la Selección argentina e hizo saber que, en el caso de que el técnico lo requiera, está dispuesto a regresar al seleccionado. Además, volvió a elogiar a Messi.
“Si me necesitan para las Eliminatorias volveré; si no, Argentina tiene grandes jugadores”, manifestó Juan Román Riquelme. Y luego, en diálogo con la Cadena Cope de España, también se refirió al cambio de entrenador de la Selección Nacional: “No es bueno que cada ocho o nueve meses estén cambiando de entrenador. Espero que traigan a uno que lo puedan dejar mucho tiempo”.
A su vez, Riquelme también elogió a Lionel Messi, a pesar de que algunos se encargan de afirmar que la relación entre ellos no es buena. “Messi lo ha conseguido todo y cada vez va a jugar mejor. Lo disfruté como compañero y lo disfruto como hincha. Es una maravilla que sea argentino”, expresó el futbolista.
Y luego, con respecto a las críticas que muchas veces recibe Lio, explicó que “los argentinos somos un poco especiales. Tenemos al mejor del planeta y en lugar de disfrutarlo siempre buscamos por qué no juega como en el Barcelona”.
